The men sampled some of their food but didn’t seek the advice of The LORD
-Joshua 9:14
What a cautionary tale this is. I have such a difficult time with this story. I on e asked a teacher why it was so wrong for Joshua to have made this covenant with tne Gibonites. He emphasized what the text says: they should have askes G-d about it. This is one of my weak points as a believer. How do I know what to ask, when to ask and how to receive the answer? I fear projecting my will in prayer and then pretending that I got the answer I wanted. My mind is flashing towards the prayer Yeshua taught his Disciples, is it enough to say “Your will be done” to defeat my will?
I am seeking advice here: how do you pray? How do you know when to as the Almighty for help? How do you know it’s His answer you’re getting?
