I tell you, this man went down to his home right with God rather than the other. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but everyone who humbles himself will be exalted.”
It is easy to fall into the trap of thinking that by cleaving to the Father and living a life dedicated to him that you are different or better than others. How will you ever reach them and help them to repent if you stand aloof content in your own righteousness. It is better to be humble and know that just as you were once lost and just as you struggle with matters of the flesh, so do those you are tempted to dismiss. Remember they are brothers and sisters, children of the same Father and they can be reached better through loving kindness than by anything else. Let go of pride and vanity know that you are close to the Father through his grace and mercy alone.
