If we let him keep going on this way, everyone will trust in him, and the Romans will come and destroy both the Temple and the nation.”
From a certain point of view, these Jewish leaders were correct. Eventually the Romans did destroy the Temple and the nation was scattered. It happened about 40 years after Messiah’s death. In the context, they feared Rome, but today Rome is a memory, while Israel lives on. Men may doubt the Holy One. Other Men may scoff and defy the One True King, but in the end He will show that He is Master of all and that His will be done. For generations peoples have arisen to destroy Israel, but the Father is faithful to His people and His promises is to preserve them always.
