so that now you should do the opposite — forgive him, encourage him, comfort him. Otherwise such a person might be swallowed up in overwhelming depression.
Forgiveness should be given when it is due. The danger in holding back rightful forgiveness is that the offender hardens their heart and falls deeper into sin, selflessness and worst of all, depression from which they might never recover. We who have been forgiven should be ready to offer forgiveness.
