I like the finer point raised by Sha’ul that he is not the arbiter of all that is good and righteous. I don’t know what he is referring to here, but it reminds me of when Yehsua and Moshe both had their disciples reporting to them unsanctioned men who were doing the work of the Kingdom off by themselves. It is easy to trust those we know and doubt people who don’t know. A modicum of skepticism is healthy towards outsiders at first. It is fair to give them a chance to show who they are and that they really are a brother or sister. We should be open to seeing the godliness in strangers as well as friends.
